Presentation

The US strategist is Robert Ridland, a former Olympic rider who competed at the Munich games in 1972 and the Montreal games in 1976. Ridland graduated from Yale University in 1973 and Columbia University in 1979.  Originally from California, he earned multiple titles and medals since taking the reins of the American team.In 2013, he succeeded George Morris as the chef d’equipe thanks to his incredible success and medals won at multiple team championships.

Robert Ridland was a brilliant international rider. In addition to his Olympic entries, he has won such prestigious Grand Prix as the American Invitational, a spectacular event taking place in the former Orange Bowl stadium in Miami winning a $ 1,000,000 purse, the Grand Prix of New York at the legendary Madison Square Garden, but and in Europe, at the CSIO Grand Prix of Switzerland. Ridland also wears many other hats as he has been in charge of the American Federation (USEF), chief of track, TV commentator and Technical Delegate of the FEI for four World Cup Finals.

Ridland is truly well rounded in the sport but clearly still believes it is necessary to rely on his USET staff. In preparation for competition, the humble Chef d’equipe said,  “ "I believe it's a team effort, I'm not going to solo on this."
